I really like this saying because it implies that even when the weather’s not what you want it to be, it will pay off dividends with flowers. The same can be said for life. We must be patient and remember that even when it life isn’t going our way, sometimes it pays big dividends later. Of course some real showers would be nice to. We’ve got half the state dry as a bone and fires cropping up everywhere.
Last weekend, I had the good fortune to be a part of the Songwriter’s Serenade in Hallettsville, Texas. I was the guest at the magnificent TR Ranch owned by the McDaniel’s. There in the rolling hills, with cattle lowing and a beckoning blue sky, 25 songwriters came together to compete, yes, but also to make new friends and share their art. In the end I did well, going to the finals on Saturday and placing somewhere in the bottom half (6-12) of the group. Honestly, I didn’t expect to make it that far.
